2014 Global Trade Management Landscape Report

Posted by Sam Scordato on Fri, Mar, 14 2014 @ 1:31 PM

Healthy global trade management starts with healthy compliance processes. In the highly complex world of modern trade, that means automation. However a large proportion of shippers still don’t view the automation of trade compliance as an achievable priority.

American Shipper’s 2014 Global Trade Management Landscape Report, “Sharpening Trade Compliance through Improved Automation and Data Quality,” takes a back-to-basics approach for how shippers can re-prioritize this crucial evolution.

The benefits are clear: more efficient trade compliance, better accuracy, lower risk, and the ability to migrate compliance staff away from paperwork toward problem-solving. The report provides actionable steps and practical examples to transform a compliance process from manual to automated, and to underpin that process with accurate data.

SCM World Reports on Supply Chain and the Cloud

Posted by Sam Scordato on Tue, Nov, 19 2013 @ 11:00 AM

Supply chains are by their very nature connected, information-dependent, and undergoing constant change. Most senior supply chain leaders have become accustomed to developing and deploying operational strategies on the back of software applications that are generally legacy systems underpinning specialty bolt-on tools. The result is sometimes clunky and rarely flexible in the face of changing business conditions. In “Supply Chain and the Future of Applications” SCM World reports on how the idea of “cloud” based software promises to change this.

Supply chain leaders depend on a whole range of software applications to manage their operations and to support initiatives for new growth. Many of these systems have taken years and cost many millions of dollars to install and use. Changes in information technology, particularly cloud computing, are likely to have a significant impact on the way these systems are developed and deployed going forward. According to the report, this new model already appears ready to apply to supply chains and is bringing new considerations to the table both in terms of technology and use cases.
