Understanding C-TPAT and the New C-TPAT Portal

Written by Suzanne Richer | Thu, Apr, 14 2016 @ 8:46 PM

Customs–Trade Partnership Against Terrorism (C-TPAT) is a voluntary, joint government-business initiative to help add to supply chain visibility and increase border security. Although generally C-TPAT focuses on imports into the United States, it has more recently opened up to U.S. exporters since they are too exposed to considerable risk. In order to accommodate the requests and expanding parameters, a framework for the C-TPAT program and requirements has been deployed.

Change is constant in the day-to-day management of business and the C-TPAT portal is one more changing environment. In December 2014, C-TPAT launched a web portal in efforts to provide companies with a system for maintaining their annual review and status. C-TPAT is developing a new version of the C-TPAT gateway AKA Portal 2.0, to streamline applications to U.S. partnership programs and to add functionality requested by Partners. Furthermore, this upgrade will ensure companies meet the mandated security requirements. For more information, please visit the CBP website.

Next week, Amber Road will be attending the 42nd NCBFAA Annual Conference in Tucson, AZ from April 17-21st. During the event, Suzanne Richer, Director of Trade Advisory Practice at Amber Road, will explore how to make the most out of the new C-TPAT portal and better serve your clients who are also C-TPAT partners.

Key topics include:

  • C-TPAT for exports
  • Linking other country cargo security programs through the web portal
  • NEEC validations and how to use them as a C-TPAT validation program
  • How the CEEs are changing the way the Supply Chain Security Specialists (SCSS) view the validation process

If you’re planning to attend the conference next week, don’t miss this presentation, CCS & CES Session: Understanding the New C-TPAT Portal on April 21st in the morning.
