We get a lot of questions from importers and exporters regarding trade compliance. Unfortunately since we're so busy, we don't have time to personally answer every one, especially considering many of the emails we receive are very specialized to certain situations.
Much of the time, emailers are asking about what it takes to be compliant with US trade regulations, and asking for help navigating the confusing requirements within these rules.
One good resource for beginning exporters is the US Census Bureau's website:
http://www.census.gov/foreign-trade/aes/exporttraining/videos/
Here you will find some great export training videos, and as you navigate through the pages there are also listings for export compliance seminars, guidelines for using AES, and a FAQs section.
However, larger exporters should consider implementing an export management system to reduce the possibility of human error and streamline the process. After all, you can't search the Census Bureau website for every HS code when you have over 1,000 components to classify!
