A Trip to the Lab: Consumer Product Safety Testing

I was fortunate to be part of a group from the American Apparel and Footwear Association Product Safety Council to tour the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) testing facility in Rockville, Maryland last month.  What an amazing, eye-opening tour. 

The CPSC opened this facility earlier this year and they have staffed and equipped it to the hilt - all in hopes of protecting the safety of American consumers.  With the grace periods coming to an end in January 2012, there is a lot more for retailers, brands and manufacturers to be concerned about.

Public Law 110-314, better known as the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act or CPSIA compliance will be in greater focus, along with the process changes you need to implement to remain compliant.
