The terrible news from Bangladesh has focused the world’s attention on garment factories and reminds most in the industry of a similar tragedy in New York City in 1911 at Triangle Shirtwaist Factory. But the reports of the Tazreen Fashions fire that occurred on November 24th outside of Dhaka, Bangladesh leaving more than 110 factory workers dead, highlights the ongoing fire safety issues in that country. According to sources, fires at garment factories in Bangladesh have killed over 600 people in the last six years, including the December 2010 factory fire that resulted in 29 deaths.

FCPA Guidance Released by Justice Department and SEC

Amber Road Named to the 2012 Venture Summit Mid-Atlantic Top 100 List

Recently, attendees at the Amber Road user conference had the opportunity to hear William McNeill, Senior Research Analyst at Gartner, speak about global trade trends and priorities. In particular, Mr. McNeill cited a survey of “Supply Chain Digest” readers conducted by Gartner that focused on the adoption of supply chain software. The survey of 259 senior supply chain executives found that nearly 35% of respondents identified supply chain visibility and event management (SCVEM) as the most important supply chain management (SCM) and execution (SCE) application for acquisition in 2014.

Super-Storm Sandy Halts Transportation in the Northeast

The devastation following the storm is impacting both domestic and international transportation providers and could cause supply chain delays to drag out for days. Hurricane Katrina is the only other U.S. storm that has had such an immediate impact on logistics and freight volumes.
